Given the state of world affairs, the economy and the stresses of life we all can arrive at a place where we sense that we lack luster. We’re just not who we use to be. We’ve lost our edge. We’re not in the zone. We’re not hot on target. We’ve been worn down, worn out and marginalized by the world, the economy, industry or even Christian leaders.

LET HOPE ARISE... because hope is the greenhouse in which faith can arise and grow. The enemy comes only to steal, to kill and to destroy.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

  1. What does the enemy come to steal?
  2. What does the enemy come to kill?
  3. What does the enemy come to destroy?

The time tested and 100% true Words of Yahweh tell us that, “The joy of the Lord is our strength.” Have you lost your joy? Was your joy stolen? Did a thief come in while you were unaware and steal your joy? Why would he do that? When did he steal your child-like joy? He’s quite the master pick-pocket, con-artist and it’s likely that you never saw when it happened. It’s quite likely that as you read these anointed words of life you are realizing the truth that your joy was stolen. It’s gone, gone, gone and the thief has entered in to steal it for a purpose. What is his purpose and plan?

Your enemy is “like a roaring lion.” He is not The Roaring Lion, but is “like” or presents himself “as if” he were a roaring lion. There is a strategy that he has employed for thousands of years against business leaders, political leaders, church leaders, mom’s dad’s and children.

The first thing that the enemy seeks to steal is your joy so that he can weaken you. If he can weaken you that he can kill your hope. If he can kill your hope then he can destroy your faith in the living God who knit you together in your mother’s womb and loves you so much.

It’s truly theft by deception because what used to make you happy does not make you happy any longer. The thrill of getting rich! The thrill of dominating the marketplace! The thrill of conquest and dominance in your territory! The joy of family and time spent with your kids, it’s gone! You may find yourself sitting in church one day and everyone is singing and praising the Lord. Everyone is raising their hands and shouting in joy, but you find that you cannot praise, you cannot worship, you cannot smile, you cannot move forward and you feel so, so weak. Those are all symptoms of what has happened to you while you were not attentive to one of your greatest God given treasures, “joy!”

You will have to take your joy back over time. Do you remember the story of Samson and how he had great supernatural strength. He had taken a Nazarite vow which involved not cutting his hair. As it turns out his hair was the secret to his strength. When the source of his strength was revealed to his enemies they crept in while he slept, as a thief will, and they cut his hair leaving him with the strength of a normal man. Do you see the parallel? His “joy” (hair) was cut off and he became weak. Thank God today that hair grows back, in most cases, and God can grow your joy back. It will take a little time and some effort on your part. Here are three steps to get your joy back.

  1. Humble yourself and get into the Word of God. Read it and meditate upon it. Do this especially if you don’t feel like it.

Psalm 19:8 New International Version (NIV)

8 The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.

  2. Worship and praise music is a key to growth and a key to joy. Get some great worship music or tune in to YouTube while working with a headset if possible to take in high praises, worship and vibrant Jesus exalting praise and worship music.

Psalm 95:1 [ Psalm 95 ] Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

  3. Reach out to help someone in need. Seek and opportunity for meaningful service. Take off and honor your spouse or your children at an event or a surprise outing. The concept is that you are not focusing on yourself alone but upon helping to bring joy to others. As you are doing this you will be breaking the binding chains that demands, possessions and time management can lay upon you.

Psalm 27:6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.

Matthew 6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
